Our Practice

Doctor Patrick Reber joined Alaska Eye Care Centers in the fall of 1993 after his graduation from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry. He is an active member of both the Alaska and American Optometric Associations and also holds licenses in Texas and Oklahoma and is Board certified. Dr. Reber is also board certified in CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) and specializes in contact lens fittings. He has also taken time to speak on radio and television about the importance of eye care and occasionally does presentations at local schools.

He is very active in the community, most notably with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as an Asst. Scoutmaster and a Chapter Advisor for the Order of the Arrow. Dr. Reber also served as the Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes vision screening program for 12 years.

He and his wife Michelle have been married since 1997 and they live in Eagle River with their 3 children; Jasmine and twin sons, Alex and Michael.

Doctor “Jim, Jr.” was born and raised in Anchorage and has been practicing at Alaska Eye Care Centers for over 20 years.. He graduated from New England College of Optometry in 1998 and joined AECC in August of the same year. Prior to practicing optometry, he completed a doctorate in biomedical imaging research at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

​He enjoys all aspects of EyeCare, but especially contact lens fittings and management of ocular diseases and is actively involved in diabetic community services.

His outside interests include cross country skiing, hiking, biking and fishing.

Doctor Ladd Nolin was born and raised in Montana. He did his undergraduate work at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree and a major in Biology in 1997. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2002 and did a year of Residency at the Roseburg Veterans Administration in Roseburg, Oregon and joined AECC in July of 2003.

He served as a volunteer on the board of the Alaska Optometric Association for several years and was an adjunct clinical professor for Pacific University College of Optometry for quite some time.

Dr. Nolin lives in Anchorage and is an outdoorsman, regularly enjoying fly fishing, hunting, hiking and snowboarding. He loves to travel in order to explore new fly fishing opportunities.

Doctor Ian Ford joined Alaska Eye Care Centers in 2007 after graduating from Pacific University College of Optometry with distinction. Originally a farm kid from rural Montana, he realized at a young age that he wanted to be an Optometrist and pursued his passion.

​Among his optometric interests, Dr. Ford enjoys all aspects of primary optometry to ocular disease to specialty contact lenses. He has been a member of the American Optometric Association and Alaska Optometric Association since graduation. He is certified in myopia control contact lens fitting with the Paragon CRT and BE Retainer orthokeratology systems.

​Outside of the office, you can find Dr. Ford enjoying the Alaskan outdoors primarily by foot or by bicycle all seasons with his lovely wife, Jessie, daughter, Mallory, and more than likely a couple members of their fur-family.

Doctor Joshua Cook was born and raised in Highland, Utah. He studied at Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. He became an Optometric Physician after attending the University of Houston, College of Optometry graduating Magna Cum Laude. He enjoys all aspects of optometry; from pediatrics and difficult to fit contact lenses to ocular disease. Dr. Cook also has a special interest in “myopia control” or slowing the gradual progression of nearsightedness. This is especially helpful to children during their growing years. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Alaska Optometric Association. One of Dr. Cook’s more important qualities is to take significant interest in understanding the patient’s desires and eye care needs, and provide the appropriate care with integrity.

Doctor Cook is married to his wife, Brooke, and they have four wonderful children — two boys and two girls. He loves living in Alaska and being outdoors. When he’s not helping people with their vision you can find him doing activities such as hiking, fly fishing, camping and skiing. His most favorite activities are those spent with his family.

Doctor Jessica Giesey is originally from Wheeling, West Virginia. She received her bachelors degree in chemistry from West Liberty University before attending the Ohio State University College of Optometry where she graduated with honors in 2014 and immediately moved to Alaska to join AECC.

She enjoys caring for patients of all ages with a special interest in contact lenses and dry eye treatment. She is an active member in the leadership of the Alaska Optometric Association and enjoys hiking, skiing, travel, Buckeye football games and exploring Alaska in her 1992 Toyota Dolphin.
